Licensing Mac OS?
I just discovered this memo reportedly written in 1985 by Bill Gates to John Sculley asking him to consider licensing Macintosh technology. I'm particularly amused by his praise for Nortel. I suspect BillG has a different opinion now.
Accounting scandals aside, it's hard to imagine a time when AT&T and Nortel could have been identified as possible players in the personal computer market. But I suppose Michael Dell was just dropping out of college in 1985.
